Artist's Comments

Okay, final update! I put some sparkle into her magic wand :) I shall now stop tinkering with this and draw something else!

I put a background on it and I think it's looking a lot better! I think the colours contrast better between the rustic wood elf and elegant high elf...

I like the contrasts between these two, the dual nature of the elvish race... refined and mystical on the one hand, stealthy and mischevious forest archers on the other.

I liked the way the 'Lord of the Rings' film portrayed their ears as slightly tapered, rather than the huge 'Mr Spock' style ears they have in World of Warcraft. I think WoW definitely influenced my armour designs, though! Although the skimpy outfits they wear are also influenced by Larry Elmore, Clyde Caldwell and the late Keith Parkinson, the fantasy artists I loved as a girl.

I may well do nude versions of these characters after I
finish the clothed set.

The characters are Valanae, a high elf wizardess, on the left, and Lia Woodsinger, a wood elf archer on the right. They may be more than just good friends.

Valanae is a follower of Sehanine Moonbow, the elvish goddess of the moon. She manages to be mysterious and regally aloof despite her 'stripper outfit'. She excels in rituals and magicks involving storms and lightning. Detatched and wise, she is a level head of reason for her adventuring party.

Lia's cheerful personality disguises her melancholy past and the loss of her friends and family. Many wood elves cannot handle their dual natures and become grim questors or frivolous wastrels; Lia tends to switch between the two. An archer without peer, she is clever and stealthy, and a wise guide and counsel to her human companions.

(A friend of mine asked why they are so well stacked. Admittedly elven women would probably be willowy and have small breasts. But I'm obsessed with large boobs at the moment. I don't know why. It's kind of worrying me, really. I think the fact that they are clothed means I have to show a bit of cleavage, or something.)

Disclaimer: Both characters are over 18. Being elves, they are likely hundreds or thousands of years old in fact.

lol at the disclaimer, always nice work.
:iconmaelora:
I think I'll put a sarcastic disclaimer in everything I do now!

It's not just the breast size, but the whole way you draw the characters, one could not be any other way with the other the way it is, working beautifully together.

Thanks- glad it works for you. I may draw them fully nude later.
:iconbanditfrosty:
What do you mean" better at the naughty bits"? Its my belief that you still are more apt at that sorta thing.

Action porn. Jason Statham makes one of these films every three months. I think the plot to his last movie was that he got his dick caught in a pile of meat and the only way to get it out was drag racing against the President of Tits.

I meant it as a compliment! I love your stuff and your more explicit work seems to fit the artwork perfectly. Whenever I try to do art like that, it just looks wrong to me. So I still say you're much better than that. The commission you did for me with all the D&D races inspired the ones I'm doing now.

Hardly fully clothed as it is, but I'm certainly not about to object :)

you know a thing?
the fact that i love your drawings is that, I always go crazy for drawing a body, and never never succeed. instead, while I study maniacally the way you draw, all the forms are so genuine and pure, just like if the lines were screaming simplicity. I have so much to learn.. I wonder if you studied art. this looks autodidact.
:iconmaelora:
Believe it or not, I never even started drawing until about ten years ago. I'm entirely self-taught, though some friends gave me some tips, and there's been a LOT of trial and error! I've actually learned to stick to my strengths. If I have a flaw it's that I'm too self-critical. But thanks for the kind words; it does wonders for my fragile ego! :)

Well, they're fairly overdressed for my artwork!

You can't go naked in 4th edition :(

I'm personally with Isadora Duncan on this one - 'clothes are dishonest'...
