AKA 'Space Babe and Cat Girl'

Update: Finished it and put a background on it. I was aiming for a 'ruined temple' kind of thing, but I wonder if I've made it overly fussy now...

Okay, here's a new drawing. This one showcases some of the new PHB2 races. (Yeah, it's funny I keep drawing characters from a game I don't even like, but that never stopped me with Final Fantasy! I guess I just like the visual aesthetics of it all...)

The girl on the right is Summer, a Razorclaw Shifter and a druidess. In this combat-only edition, druids don't have their usual outdoor spells and abilities, but have shapechanging and elemental attack spells. It's not a bad class by the low standards of 4E. Shifters are sort of 'half-werecreatures', a weretiger in the case of Razorclaws.

I've wanted to draw something 'furry' for a while. Eastern catgirls seem to be mostly normal females with kitty ears and tails, while in the West, they tend to be anthropomorphised felines. I've gone for something in the middle; the Marvel superheroine Tigra was an obvious inspiration!

The one on the left is Adarah, one of the new 'Deva' race. She's an Invoker, a kind of priestess who uses attack magic instead of healing. Again, a fairly interesting class in comparison with most of the others.

The new Deva are a reworking of the Aasimar from earlier editions, a kind of half-human, half-angel. But in 4E, 'angels' are now bland, literally faceless entities rather than holy paragons of virtue. But suprisingly, the new race doesn't suck. They have a kind of 'serial immortality', in which they endlessly reincarnate over many lifetimes, and recall some of their past lives. All in all, a cool concept.

Their look strikes me as more sci-fi than fantasy. I actually thought of a better concept for the new race, which I shall use if I ever bring them to my homebrew games. Rather than being descended from faceless angels, I imagined them as having alien ancestors. I've always liked the concept of 'ancient astronauts', the idea that certain early civilisations came into contact with interplanetary visitors. These early civilisations mistook them for gods, and possibly worshipped them (there's some intriguing evidence at places like Machu Pichu in South America). Anyway, for the purposes of this character, these aliens visited an early Babylonian-type civilisation, and bred with the locals before leaving. Their children were not like the 'gods', but weren't human either. They died like humans, but were reborn again and again. This explanation seems to fit their alien appearance, and the reason why they still prefer to wear garb from a much earlier time.

Adarah is a priestess of dragons, hence her tattoo. She will eventually have skin markings too. I liked the face mask shown in the PHB2 and thought it worked well here to make her look mysterious. You can see most of her body, but not her face...

very lovely pics so far and plan to fav more but well umm what is PHB2?
:iconmaelora:
Glad you like 'em!

PHB2 refers to the second Player's Handbook for the D&D game. The characters represent classes and races presented as options in that book.

I mentioned in another comment how beautiful the patterns in Summer's fur are, but I didn't say just how pretty the costume elements that you gave her are. I love the use of feathers and beads, and the leather clothing is nicely detailed without distracting attention from the figure. Both the details and the broad-strokes come together to create the sort of sexy, fun figure that you're so great at. :-)

Thank you! It's nice to be appreciated. I've just seen Avatar, so expect more 'tribal' pictures coming soon!

You see, I was quite displeased with the deva. But that was just because they came to be in place of the aasimar. Now, my biggest problem was that tiefling were always cooler than aasimar. The two races sucked story-wise, but tieflings were nicer. So when 4e came, I adopted the tiefling race-story thing (and the looks! Consolidated looks, finaly!!!), but came with something nice for the aasimar too, and a consolidated look.

Now, the purple guys are nice. Shame that they came to replace the aasimar...

Thank you! I have to finish my series for the game before I can take requests, but I may be able to later...

One minor note: devas in 4E are the same as aasimars from previous versions, e.g. humans with celestial traits from a distant ancestor.

But I don't think they are, really... 4E Devas have celestial ancestors, but they are clearly not the 'good' version of tieflings. They are a complete re-imagining of the aasimars, wholly different from the 2nd and 3rd edition versions.

SO different in fact, I decided upon the whole 'ancient astronauts' idea for them. In my games, devas are the immortal descendents of 'angels' (i.e. aliens) who visited ancient civilisations and bred with them. I still intend to homebrew aasimars as a completely seperate race.
